The children subject to adoption

• The children subject to adoption, which is mandatory full, are from 1 to 18 years old. They are:
• In most cases placed at a specialized in their bringing up state institutions.
• Inscribed in the Register of the Ministry of Justice for International Adoption. This happens when within 6 months after the child’s inscription in the Regional Registers for Bulgarian adoptive parents, no one of his/her assigned at least three adopters, has filed an application for his/her adoption or has not been assigned appropriate adopter..
• With consent for full adoption given by the parents or whose parents are unknown or dead, and also when without a consent for full adoption the child have not been asked for by his/her parents within 6 months after the expiry of the time-limit of his/her placement at a specialized institution.
As an exception the child may be adopted before turning one year, if this is in his/her exclusive interest with a view to his/her state of health or if there are other important circumstances.
